“I HAD LOST 50% FEELING BELOW MY RIGHT KNEE”
I have been an active sports person all my life. I participated in competitive rugby and soccer up to the age of 35. Since then I started playing golf which I am still doing today. At the age of 35 I started experiencing lower back pain (caused by strain, stress, poor posture, etc.). Due to this I was only able to play golf on and off. I started to see a chiropractor. The first two sessions helped a bit but then my back started to get worse. I then tried acupuncture and physio. This did not help and I ended up at the chiropractor again. At this stage I could hardly play golf. The chiropractic treatment worried me as I found it a bit aggressive and my back was not getting any better. One day while gardening I bent over to pull something out of a deep hole. I strained something in my back and could not move. The pain spread from my back down into my leg. It took me half an hour to get into the car as I could not bend or hardly move.
I went to hospital for a MRI scan. The result was a ruptured lower disc causing pressure on a nerve. The orthopaedic surgeon said he had to cut about 10% of the disc away to take the pressure off the nerve. After the operation (2000) at the age of 36, I was told to book into physio for re-hab. I did this a few times but did not believe that it was worth continuing. The pinched nerve was corrected in the operation but I had lost 50% feeling below my right knee and I had a lot of muscle damage.
Any slight strain or stress now would put my back alignment out and I would pull to one side (skew body alignment). I could not bend, and once again had back pain, although a different pain to the one before the operation. In the past few years I have often gone days with excruciating pain. This is when I started Directed Pressure Point Technique. I have been doing this once a month for about 2 years. My back problems have since eased off steadily and I am playing golf more freely than ever. I find that resting for one to three days after treatment leads to best results. It seems that this treatment is the only thing that helps with my back problems.
